Ingredients
- Zest from several lemons
- Zest from several limes
- Sugar (quantity not specified, adjust to taste)
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
- Sparkling water
- Ice (for serving)
Instructions
- Zest lemons and limes.
- In a bowl, combine the lemon and lime zest with sugar. Rub them together with your hands to release the oils.
- Squeeze fresh lemon and lime juice from the zested fruits.
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice to the zest-sugar mixture in a saucepan.
- Simmer the mixture for a few minutes to create a concentrated syrup.
- Strain the concentrated syrup through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the zest solids.
- Pour the strained syrup into a clean bottle for storage.
- To make a drink, fill a glass with ice.
- Add a desired amount of the homemade sprite syrup to the glass.
- Top with sparkling water.
- Stir well and enjoy.
